Abalone Shell Pieces
Pearly iridescent shell that comes from marine gastropod molluscs, these sea snails cling to rocks near the shore and are often eaten by other marine life. Microscopic calcium carbonate stack and stick together by layers of protein. Many native cultures have sustained them for centuries by consuming raw and cooked abalone. The two main areas abalone is found is the North American west coast, South Africa, New Zealand and Japan. Known for their bright blue, green mother of pearl interior. Symbolising the powerful and calming energy of the ocean it can also represent balance, connection and protection.
Paua is the Maori name for the species of abalone found in New Zealand. Tangaroa, the god of the sea gave the paua its protective shield that reflected the forest greens, ocean blues, violets and pinks

Beginners Luck Collection
As a jeweller who has only started their practice within the last year or so there are bound to be mistakes made and learning curves to overcome. Instead of keeping these pieces hidden to never see the light of day, I’m giving them a chance to have another chance at appreciation. All of these pieces are discounted due to some fault of the creator (aka me), weather it be a chipped stone, imperfect setting or scratched surface these pieces show evidence of learning. Some faults are more obvious than others but are all surface level imperfections, the strength and integrity of the jewellery is intact they just have battle scars.
Pearl and Australian Opal set in sterling silver. Opal shifts from lilac, blue and flashes of green.
The opal took some damage while I was setting it, I chipped the corner but the opal itself is secure and absolutely stunning.
*Chain not included
Purple/pinky labourite set in sterling silver. Shifts from orange, pink purple depending on the light. Stamped with 925.
There is a small chip/crack running through the stone but it has since been secured and isn’t noticeable from far away.
